Do you feel like you want support but talking about things more just doesn’t seem like it will help?

Maybe you are feeling all talked out. You might feel like you have talked about it all and you are still carrying around the same emotional pain.

Talking is important.  Communication can be vital to our health, well-being and our connection to others.

It is how we share our needs, wants, and experiences so that we no longer feel alone. Talking is also a way we better understand ourselves and make sense of our experiences. When you are able to share your thoughts and feelings with a therapist, there is the opportunity to feel heard and understood as well as to unravel the assumptions or beliefs that may be holding you back.

But talking alone is not always enough, especially if you feel that talking continues to bring up the same emotions that do not change.

We know that we carry memories and emotions in our bodies. So it only makes sense that healing and change happen not just in our minds but in our bodies as well.

Psychiatrist and trauma researcher, Bessel van der Kolk, wrote, “In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past.” Connecting to our bodies with compassionate awareness is the first step in healing from whatever stressors, events, or challenges have come before.

I have always been drawn to therapies that are based on the connections between the mind, body, emotions, and spirit because I recognize the deep healing they can offer.

My training includes Reiki Master, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or "tapping", Mindfulness practices and Brainspotting. I am Level I and II trained in Brainspotting, a treatment tool that utilizes our neurophysiology in order to identify, process and release emotional/body pain and trauma.
